“You’re almost there!” “Burn Fat, Make Muscle!” These were the two things etched in my mind as my huffing and puffing body rolled onto and off the floor. I remember thinking, “NO, I am NOT! I am far from “there” wherever “there” was. I also remember asking myself how this once Very Athletic Body had somehow transformed into a mass of stuff surrounded by skin. Thinking back now, my elbow could not even touch my knee, and run? Oh. My. Goodness. My body rebuked me. Jump Rope, no thanks! Jump on a box? No way!
How did I get started? Well, my child got engaged. Then, the dreaded process of looking for dresses for the wedding and showers started, That did it! How did I allow myself to become the reflection in the mirror I was seeing? I was active (or so I thought. Active and busy are not the same thing). The busyness of my schedule led to easy fast food meals, and the de-stressing at the end of the day brought about sitting and pity eating.
My friends, Robin and Becky, had attended In Shape’s cross training classes for a couple of years. So they double teamed me to give it a try. They said, “You need an out at times just for you.” I thought, what can I lose? I can go for free for the first visit! So, reluctantly I agreed, and in April I began my quest. I searched to find a pair of exercise pants and a t-shirt large enough not to show my imperfections (bahaha). I began the warm up! Now you must understand, I really like to be #1, and to be first, and in the limelight. WELL, that did not happen! I was last finishing my workout and David needed to explain how to do every aspect of the workout, and I had to do the Beginners regimen! I have never felt so good about being last- EVER!!!! David was so kind and encouraging, as was Mary Carter, but, it was the entire class! Everyone encouraging each other! It is a struggle, it is hard, but, so worth it! To feel as if you actually accomplished something for yourself.
From the beginning of April, until now, half way through October, I have lost 28.5 lbs. I have no idea on the inches. I went from a snug 12 to a small 8 or a 6. (I didn’t have the faith that I would stick to the regimen of eating healthy and exercising) I was just too busy, but, was I ever wrong. The exercise is the kicker. I have dieted before (with not much luck at all). I feel so much better and my energy level has definitely increased.
My plan now, after the wedding in December, is to continue with the exercise. I didn’t realize how much I truly missed the competition of sports. I now compete against myself! Plus, I always win!
I do encourage you to please come be a part. Do something for yourself. Give it a try. There will always be someone there to encourage you.
I have been an exercise enthusiast for many years now. I started as a group exercise instructor then moved to a personal trainer. I was also a runner who competed in many 5-K runs. I had the head knowledge of what I needed to do to stay fit, I just didn't always have the drive to do it. That's where In Shape Fitness and David Johnson come in to play. I was working out at a fitness center one day when someone told me about In Shape Fitness and I thought to myself what in the world is this and do I want to be a part of it? That doesn't sound like much fun! But I knew I needed more than what I was allowing myself to do. And anyone who knows me knows I will try anything at least once! So I signed up for the classes and here I am two years later still loving every minute of it well almost every minute! Ha! David has a way of making you want to reach your potential. I have never worked out harder than I do now. He knows what you can do and pushes you (in a nice way) to reach your goals. Just when I think I can't do any more David says, Why don't you try it this way, or why don't you add this? So I do and it works! I am probably in the best shape I have ever been in and have so much more stamina than I did years ago. I have also met so many people through In Shape. I personally enjoy working out with a group than doing it by myself. I feel like I put more into my workouts than I would if I was doing it alone. I look forward to my workouts every week and hate it when I have to miss. Thanks David for all you do and making me be the best I can be!
I love working out at In Shape fitness with. After having my twin girls, I had gotten out of shape and gained some weight. I could not do a sit up, push up, and certainly not a burpee! I have been working out with David consistently for over a year, and I have been able to lose all the weight that I gained during my pregnancy, and even more!!! I have really gotten stronger, and am able to do work out movements that I have never been able to do before. Not only do I feel like I am in great shape, I have more energy and feel good about myself. David is very encouraging and helps you complete every workout even if you feel like you can't make it. Every workout is different, so I don't get tired of doing to same routine every time. Thank you David for being a wonderful coach and motivator, and to help me reach my fitness goals.
All that I can say is that In Shape Fitness is the bomb! I have always enjoyed being active. I taught aerobics back in the day when kicking your legs as high as you could was the goal, jazzercised with the best of them, stepped with every configuration possible, skied countless imaginary hills on my Nordic Track you name it, I have probably tried it. I remember when I first heard about In Shape Fitness and David Johnson. I read that I could achieve great fitness results working with David. I was honestly kind of apprehensive. I wasn't sure that these knees that had tried to kick as high as the Rockettes could handle the challenge that In Shape Fitness presented. Three years later, I can tell you that I am in better shape than I was 20 years ago. My endurance and stamina have improved as well as my strength, especially core strength. David is an exceptional trainer. He explains what your body is doing and how it works as he trains. He has the wonderful ability to provide individual, customized training in a group setting, no matter your fitness level.
I was in David's original workout program that started around 4 years ago. I was about to get married and wanted to get in shape. I fell in love with his class and saw awesome results. I moved away shortly after that for three years to Mississippi and had to find a class similar to David's. I moved home last February after having my first child. I joined back in to David's class as soon as the doctor let me. I was back fitting in my pre-pregnancy shorts in no time. Now I'm expecting my second child and I'm still enjoying working out and going to In Shape Fitness. David meets you wherever you are at physically and gets you where you want to be! Anybody can do it! I would recommend it to anyone!
I have been going to In Shape fitness and working out with David for a year now and the workouts have done an excellent job preparing me for my future with the Army ROTC at Auburn University. Before I started attending In Shape, I wasn’t completely sold this type of exercise would satisfy my needs. I knew I needed to be conditioning my body for the upcoming year but I wasn’t sure this was the type of workout for me. Boy was I wrong! Working out at In Shape Fitness has opened my eyes and is the perfect workout to help me prepare and sustain my Army ROTC training. The workouts incorporate many of the same calisthenics I use every morning during my workouts at Auburn. When entering the Army ROTC program at Auburn, I felt like I had an advantage because of the training I had completed before showing up at school in the fall.
I have been working out with David Johnson at In Shape Fitness for 2 years now and I absolutely love it!!! When I first started I was so out of shape, I would "workout" at home and we all know what that consists of... Starting and stopping because you have a small child wanting to exercise with you, or the phone rings or heaven forbid you break a sweat. Trying to exercise at home is impossible for me. I started because a friend of mine told me about it and how much she liked it. I thought I would give it a try thinking it would be like any other workout I have done, well I was WRONG. I have never in my life worked out so hard. I thought there is no way I can do this for a month, but David encouraged and motivated me to set and achieve fitness goals, and now 2 years later he is still helping meet and exceed my goals as well as setting new ones. I am totally addicted to this workout program, and strongly recommend In Shape Fitness to anyone looking for a successful workout program. David is genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever met, he is passionate about being a trainer and truly wants to help people not only to get in shape but to be healthy as well. I can honestly say that I am stronger and more in shape than I have ever been in my life and I have David to thank for that.
